Why I suspect I am not even getting to GDM log in screen. The little bit
of sight I have can make out a light patch in the middle of the screen
when GDM appears if I use my desktop, but I don't see this on the dell
510m. Also by following your instructions to log in to the CD, it works
fine on the desktop but not on the dell 510m.
Do you know what type of graphics adapter the 510m has (the device
driver utility will tell you if you boot the build 129 CD)? If it's an
Intel 915, you may well be running into the same problem that is
plaguing the Toshiba R600 and M10, among others, where X just doesn't
start. This began with build 130. This is tracked as bug 6912996
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6912996
and is fixed in build 132. I'd suggest trying again when that build is
released, which will hopefully be sometime next week.
