About GUST
Gulf
University for Science & Technology (GUST), founded in 2002, is the
first private institution of higher education in Kuwait. Established as
a four-year liberal arts institution offering 12 degree programs, GUST
has responded to the growing need for a Western-style education
grounded in Kuwait's Islamic cultural setting. Building on a
partnership with the University of Missouri at St. Louis (UMSL), GUST

Faculty Openings
College of Arts and Sciences College of
Business Administration
College of Arts and Sciences
For openings in the College of Arts and Sciences, preference will be
given to graduates from accredited universities where English is the
language of instruction (except for the opening in Arabic). The College
is committed to lively teaching integrating educational technology and
to active research and other forms of scholarship. Candidates must have
completed, at the time of appointment, all requirements for their PhD
in the advertised field. The review of applications will start on
December 15, 2008 but all positions will remain open until they are
filled. Although preference will be given to candidates who qualify for
appointment at the rank of assistant professor, those who qualify for
appointment at higher ranks are also encouraged to apply. Rank will be
determined by previous employment history. Interested applicants are

Arabic
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking to hire
faculty with specialization in Arabic (language or language). The
Department services the University by providing essential liberal arts
requirements. Candidates are expected to work with colleagues in an
English language environment.
Art
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking to hire
faculty with specialization in Art History and/or Studio Art. The
Department services the University by providing essential liberal arts
requirements.
Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science is seeking faculty preferably at the
assistant professor/associate professor level with preference given to
those with specializations in the areas of data bases, algorithms and
operating systems. Candidates with experience in e-learning will be
given preference.
English (ESP)
The Department of English is seeking to hire faculty with
specialization in Rhetoric or in English for Special Purpose,
specifically in science writing and writing for business and the media.
Candidates are required to have a PhD in an area related to writing, a
demonstrated excellence in teaching and evidence of or a strong
potential for research.
History
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking an
historian with a specialization in the history of the Middle East,
broadly defined, whose period of specialization covers either the
medieval or early modern eras. The successful candidate will be
expected to teach a combination of regional and world history. The
Department services the University by providing essential liberal arts
requirements.
Mass Communications
The Department of Mass Communications is seeking to hire faculty in the
following areas: visual communications, advertising, public relations,
film, radio and television. Rank is open.
Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences is seeking recent
graduates in the area of Applied Mathematics. MS holders are also
encouraged to apply for instructor positions dedicated mostly to the
teaching of Algebra.
Philosophy
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking to hire
faculty in Philosophy at the Assistant Professor rank. Preference will
be given to specialists in one of the following fields: applied
philosophy, Islamic philosophy or some area of western philosophy. The

The College of Business Administration at the Gulf University for
