Hello,
Recently had been to Kali Mandir - Kolkata.
There is a tree in the premises which is worshipped & threaded for fulfilling
the wishes.
to me, the tree appeared like a variety of Adenium sp. The trunk had a large
girth & several branches emerging from a point as in Adenium.
The tree was not in flowering. Had it been in flowering, the identification
would have been simple.
The trunk had a large girth. Adenium sp. grows very very slow. If my
identification is correct, then the tree must be really old.
I was observing the tree continuously while we were queued up for the entry in
the shrine. The slow moving queue gave me ample time for observation.
There was one more astonishing fact, A pair of Red Vented Bulbul had nested on
the top floor of the tree. The Bulbuls had found a safest place to breed!
Unfortunately I was unable to take any image as photography is prohibited in
Kali Mandir.
Can any one confirm the identity of the tree?
The tree is a real beauty. Would request to share the image if anyone has one.
best regards
Adittya
