I was happy in a way to read the news paper clipping mailed to all of
us dedicated to nature conservation.

But when it comes to crores and crores of money involved in whatever
project - Im afraid more than half is eaten away somewhere in the
middle !

Im from West Bengal and I STRONGLY FEEL that until and unless our
policy makers are motivated enough to protect our forest and wildlife
- we shall be losing not only our flagship species - the Royal Bengal
Tiger - but along with it a whole gamut of precious creatues of the
forest.

Can we really save the Sunderbans tigers ? Peopla have just occupied
free land in the midst of the mangrove forest and have destroyed
mangrove to start cultivation. These villages are den of poachers and
without much effort they are making money by trapping and killing both
deer and tigers. We do not have sufficient number of forest guards nor
do we have enough speed boats to chase them out.

I would therefore plead to the new Forest Minister to look into the
matter and perhaps meet us - the non govt. organisation members at a
meeting. We need your help and support.
