Hi Katie & Neil yes Katie, it is a composite or compound fruit as the entire inflorescence develops in to a single fruit and it is called sorosis.If you carefully search for you will notice that each eye of Baratondi has a flower.Other examples of sorosis are mulberry,pinepple & jackfruit. unlike in Sitaphal[Custard Apple Anona squamosa] where the fruit is an aggregate fruit as it develops from a single flower[multicarpellary apocarpus ovary] & the fruit is called an etario of berries.This is commonly found in primitive family like anonaceae,magnoliaceae.
