I would advise your friend to leave things to nature. Just ensure no
cattle or sheep/ goat grazing takes place and nature will take over.
The best trees if at all that may be planted are the varieties that
exist in that area. However, if you wish to ensure that trees come up
fast, I think erythrina cuttings could be planted, but please note;
once they come up you will find langurs coming for the fresh leaves,
the birds come in for the nectar and for their beans. Elephants will
also be there for they enjoy eating its bark and leaves.
