Sir,

"Bengal
Plants<http://ia700604.us.archive.org/BookReader/BookReaderImages.php?id=mobot31753000237419&itemPath=%2F32%2Fitems%2Fmobot31753000237419&server=ia700604.us.archive.org&page=n208_w1150.jpg>"
describes :-
(i) Flowers white, glistening, .35 in. long or larger ---------- *argentea*
(ii) Flowers pink, rose or yellow, .25 in. long or smaller ------- *cristata
*
*Celosia argentea* L. - In all provinces, cultivated and as an escape. An
erect annual, 1-3 feet high.
*Celosia cristata* L. - In all provinces, cultivated; occasionally as an
escape. An erect annual, 2-3 feet high.

"Flora of British
India<http://ia700606.us.archive.org/BookReader/BookReaderImages.php?id=mobot21753000004357&itemPath=%2F23%2Fitems%2Fmobot21753000004357&server=ia700606.us.archive.org&page=n717_w1150.jpg>"
describes :-
*Celosia argentea* L. - Annual, glabrous...... flowers white,
glistening...... The top of the spikes sometimes branches out in a *cock's
comb*
form<http://ia600606.us.archive.org/BookReader/BookReaderImages.php?id=mobot21753000004357&itemPath=%2F23%2Fitems%2Fmobot21753000004357&server=ia600606.us.archive.org&page=n718_w1150.jpg>
.

"Flora Indica" doesn't help much :-

   -

http://ia600603.us.archive.org/BookReader/BookReaderImages.php?id=mobot31753000967866&itemPath=%2F5%2Fitems%2Fmobot31753000967866&server=ia600603.us.archive.org&page=n681_w1150.jpg

None of the above descriptions indicates that *C. argentea* L. can be pink
(white+pink) too.

At the same time it is very possible that this species is *C. argentea* L.
as have been described in
FoC<http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200006992>and
FoP <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=200006992>.

But, according to :-

   1. The Plant List : *Celosia argentea L. = Celosia cristata*
L.<http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-2707821>
   2. GRIN : *Celosia argentea*
L.<http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?9743#syn>=
*Celosia cristata* L. [≡ *Celosia argentea* var. *cristata*] = *Celosia
plumosa* (Voss) Burv. [≡ *Celosia argentea* var. *plumosa*]

Googling for *Celosia argentea* results :-

Googling for *Celosia spicata* reults :-
