Dear,
As far as I know, Banni mara (Kannada) or Vanni maram (Tamil) is *Prosopis
spicigera*. This is indigenous in the arid zone of Rajasthan, said to be
very useful and saved hundreds of lives during a bad famine. This species is
considered sacred and can be seen in some temples in TN as Sthalaviruksham.
But most of the time Acacia ferruginea, a common species found in the
tropical forests of southern India. Pl. correct me if i am wrong.
