After considerable search I think that it is Trevia nudiflora L., a
variable species, transferred to Mallotus as follows:
*Mallotus nudiflorus* (L.) Kulju & Welzen, Blumea 52: 124. 2007.  However,
in Flora of India, volume 23, it is treated as Trevia nudiflora with four
varieties.
