"From the photos,the plant appears to be Agapetes variegata. The plant is
an epiphyte and not parasitic on the host trees and develops a bulbous base
with ageing. This species is found in NE India in subtropical forests at
2000 to 2500 m alt. and is very attractive in flowering. A volume on the
family Ericaceae (eds. M.Sanjappa & ARK Sastry under Fl.of India series by
the BSI) is under final stages of printing and will be come out soon. Pl
