Hi all,
Yesterday evening observed a succession of Red-vented Bulbus
voraciously feeding on the ripe fruits of Jungle Jalebi
Pithecellobium dulce. There were territorial fights-fleeting but
claiming to the fruit pod. This was also because fruits were rapidly
diminishing on the tree. The feeding continued until light faded. The
place is New Palam Vihar a residential colony in Gurgaon, Haryana. The
tree had grown from dispersed seeds on a vacant house plot.
Would appreciate if the group can share any observations of other
birds feeding on Jungle Jalebi.
I tried to photograph, but the time (evening).and location-the tree
was shadowed by a taller acacia nilotica tree, made it near impossible
to get a record shot.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Thanks
Janaki
