*Melastoma malabathricum*, known also as *Indian Rhododendron* and *Singapore 
Rhododendron**   It is  known*  to accumulate aluminium (hyper 
accumulator)  and  can be used for  *phytoremediation* of  soils 
contaminated with *aluminium*.   It is a common plant in Malaysia.
