Leaf shape, margin, venation seem to match it, e.g., http://www.gardensonline.com.au/Uploads/Plant/1030/PopulusNigraItalicaCu700.jpg But I've not looked at the other introduced hybrids that are listed in the FAO publication and assume that the natural species are not likely to be cultivated so far south at this altitude.
