I am sorry to say that I gave wrong info regarding *Ochna* list in Bengal Plants. Both, the 'Bengal Plants' and the 'Botany of Bihar & Orissa' do not provide KEY to *O. squarrosa* and *O. obtusata*. Instead both the books provide difference to *O. squarrosa* L. and *O. pumila* Ham.
Interestingly FBI treats *O. squarrosa* L. is synonymous with *O. obtusata* DC. and *O. lucida* Lamk. While in TPL all the above are unresolved. FoC doesn't help. A paper can be read/viewed at http://www.jstor.org/stable/1217211, which says *O. squarrosa* L. <http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?25468> and *O. obtusata* DC <http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?450252>. are two different taxa. Our group says *O. jabotapita* L. (*O. squarrosa* L.) is a cultivated shrub <https://sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/species/m---z/o/ochnaceae/ochna>. On the other hand *Ochna obtusata* DC. (*O.squarrrosa* auct. Non. L.) <https://books.google.co.in/books?id=umMFT6tKtrkC&pg=PA71&lpg=PA71&dq=ochna+flora+tamilnadu&source=bl&ots=1BKPVYMAgW&sig=_DJzVrPPhKJ1fHJbiNJrSYzfoa0&hl=en&sa=X&ei=xVMQVcP0KJKyuATrmoIo&ved=0CB8Q6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=ochna%20flora%20tamilnadu&f=false> is a shrub or small tree. This much I could find. Thank you Regards On Sun, Mar 22, 2015 at 6:47 PM, J.M.
