Dear Subscribers,

I am writing to you from the Conservation Action Trust, a registered
non-profit organization formed to protect the environment, particularly
forests and wildlife.
Every year on the occasion of the Mahashivratri Festival (which on the
12thof February this year), thousands of devotees visit the Sanjay
Gandhi
National Park to venerate the shivling at the Kanheri Caves.

On this day, the forests and the wildlife are at great risk form the large
numbers of people entering the park to pay homage. Threats such as forest
fires, garbage dumping of plastic, bottles, leftover food etc is observed.

In order to curtail these problems and protect our wildlife and forest we
involve volunteers at different locations of the National Park at the
Borivali end, at Yeeor, Thane and at Tungaresrwar.

The volunteers will assist the forest guards, and police in confiscating
plastic bags, inflammable item, etc in order to avoid any harm to the
forest.

For this purpose I request those who would like to step forward to protect
the National Park to kindly volunteer for this noble cause. To register you
can contact Jayasujatha at 22006114/116 or Georgina Fernandes at 9820 246
588.

With Warm Regards,
