*Pachystachys* genus is not represented by any species in the wild in India 
as no species is mentioned in Karthikeyan et al. 2009 (Karthikeyan, S., 
Sanjappa, M. and Moorthy, S. 2009. Flowering Plants of India, Dicotyledons, 
vol-I (Acanthaceae- Avicenniaceae). Botanical Survey of India, Kolkata.).
