I think you are doing it correctly. It is just like editing a word document.
Sometimes, you may get stuck up. Don't worry leave it like that (e.g. extra
space).

While pasting on genera page generally it is pasted in the same size. But
if it is in large size, you convert it to small size as you have done.

Also learn to insert horizontal line where appropriate as below:
Click on Insert 'Horzontal line' in the same drop down menu where you get
Insert image.

I have restored the page where you left earlier- Try to do it again to sort
out the problem of image links getting removed (due to which images are not
opening to larger size). If there is some space between the earlier image &
another image to be inserted after it (by placing the cursor suitably), I
think image links will not go away. Pl. try to do permutations &
combinations for correct location of cursor while inserting after another
image & you will be able to decide then correctly with experience.

Pl. let me know of any issues.
