Dear Dr Satish,

The close-up of the flowers in your first photograph is very intriguing.
I'm acquainted with this tree in Mumbai (Borivali National Park, Madh
etc.). The flowers that I've observed have all had 10 stamens and these are
shorter than the petals. Had posted the same last year in an earlier thread
<https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/indiantreepix/1pkLghf-5y8>. My
observations have been consistent with the description in Cooke's Flora
(vol. 1): "Stamens 10, a little shorter than the petals...".

In your photograph, the flowers have 5 stamens that are markedly longer
than the petals. Would appreciate any inputs/clarity on this.

I suppose the current name of this tree is *Buchanania cochinchinensis*
(Lour.) M.R.Almeida <http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/kew-2684767>.

Many thanks for sharing your Anacardiaceae collection.

Best wishes, Viplav
