It's true that the fruits of Ficus mysorensis attract large
number
of birds, during its fruiting season. Bird species like sun bi
rd,barbet, Starling,Drongo,Chloropsis,Hanging parrots,Hill & common
Myna, Crow, like wise list goes on to 18 varieties and mammals
like Grey squirrel, Malabar Giant Squirrel and Langoor. The attraction
of this tree is in the arrival its VIP visitor...... Malabar Pied
Hornbill(Anthracoceros coronatus).It's kaiga's pride bird. It's
population is more than hundred numbers in recent years. Every year
during November-December this tree fruits and tree filled with
horn bill's, which i am observing & enjoying since my appointment in
kaiga i.e 1989 onwards. 365 days you can find malbar pied hornbill
over here. various ficus specis fruits in different period. I too
recorded video & stills of it. Happy to
share some of the beauty of fruits & Birds with Indian
tree pix....Enjoy.
