As far as I know, only 2 Roscoeas are recorded from Uttarakhand.  It is not 
*R.alpina* which is also found in Kashmir and H.P. (I saw it in Deodar 
forest at Manali in the mid-1980s), *so presumably must come within what is 
known as R.purpurea.*  

'Flora Simlensis' has this species under the name *R.procera* - both this 
and *R.alpina* are known from Shimla.

However, a number of new species of *Roscoea* have been described from 
Nepal  in recent decades, so one needs to eliminate some of these from 
consideration - I do not have the details to hand.
