Dear Muthu Ji,
It's called turkey's tail mushroom because it looks like the tail of the
turkey (bird) from behind. Turkey has a rossette arrangment of tail feathers
like that of T vericolor !!

Dear Satish ji and Pankaj ji,
This fungus indeed has ANTICANCER & IMMUNOMODULATING EFFECTS . T versicolor
has been investigated to have PSK (krestin) and PSP these are two very
important protein bound polysaccharides which shows certain activities like
......

   1. Activate T cells, natural killer cells, important
   2. In the defence against tumour growth.
   3. Increase white blood cell counts.
   4. Increase cytokines, tumour necrosis factor.
   5. Positive effect on apoptosis when combined with radiotherapy.
   6. Most effective against lung & stomach cancer.

There are also several reports suggesting its anti-microbial activitis as
said by Satish Ji......... Most such research are condicted in South East
Asian countries, follower by europe and U.S.

Regards
Tanay
