I checked both the species for images and detailed description. Both looked superficially similar and almost similar distribution (except for China).
For Elaeocarpus hainanensis, I could find detailed description and illustration at (but not for Elaeocarpus grandiflorus) Flora of China <http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200013530> (which does not mention Elaeocarpus grandiflorus at all- it is also not mention in any of the efloras at its site). Pl. also see Flora of China illustration <http://www.efloras.org/object_page.aspx?object_id=93846&flora_id=2>, which matches with your post.* I think bracts are crucial for correct id, which matches here.* Pl. also see other links as below: https://florafaunaweb.nparks.gov.sg/Special-Pages/plant-detail.aspx?id=3319 https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/359512-Elaeocarpus-hainanensis/browse_photos http://www.hktree.com/tree/Elaeocarpus%20hainanensis.htm Some links of reliable sites of Elaeocarpus grandiflorus (not mentioning and showing bracts) are give below: http://www.photomazza.com/?Elaeocarpus-grandiflorus http://tropical.theferns.info/image.php?id=Elaeocarpus+grandiflorus https://florafaunaweb.nparks.gov.sg/special-pages/plant-detail.aspx?id=2870 In view I will go for Elaeocarpus hainanensis On 12 May 2018 at 14:24, Dinesh Valke <dinesh.va...@gmail.com> wrote: > [image: Dattaji Salvi Udyan] > <https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fdinesh_valke%2F40527996495%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGpVXZ4VT2jwSGf8SGhcQ6O6Hn2cA> > Dattaji Salvi Udyan Thane > *Date*: May 10, 2018 ... *Altitude*: about 11 m (36 feet) asl > ------------------------------ > *Elaeocarpus grandiflorus* Sm. > [image: Elaeocarpus grandiflorus Sm.] > <https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fdinesh_valke%2F41333561864%2Fin%2Fdateposted%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGsg_u2CX2_ks3D8zF7NMwyMVxYRA> > > [image: Elaeocarpus grandiflorus Sm.] > <https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fdinesh_valke%2F42054130961%2Fin%2Fdateposted%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEqaUwXc8q64QWqol-_-7vNEXhdOw> > > [image: Elaeocarpus grandiflorus Sm.] > <https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fdinesh_valke%2F41333558544%2Fin%2Fdateposted%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNHJopNvDOeVHyyQ2tLi28qlAqZj0A> > > [image: Elaeocarpus grandiflorus Sm.] > <https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fdinesh_valke%2F42009792782%2Fin%2Fdateposted%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGadjmOJbqaECgjCEdCKrkGvLILeg> > > [image: Elaeocarpus grandiflorus Sm.] > <https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fdinesh_valke%2F40246193030%2Fin%2Fdateposted%2F&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNHFEQTM3zD0oMZW6Bg0V0JugX5TMw> > > Regards. > Dinesh > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "efloraofindia" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to indiantreepix+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. > To post to this group, send email to indiantreepix@googlegroups.com. > Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/group/indiantreepix. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout. > -- With regards, J.M.Garg 'Creating awareness of Indian Flora & Fauna' <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jmgarg1> Winner of Wipro-NFS Sparrow Awards 2014 for efloraofindia <https://sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/award-for-efloraofindia>.
