Tanay ji,

Thanks for narrowing down the ID to Hippeastrum vittatum

The descriptions of the plant posted by me agrrees with the plant shared
in plantoftheweek.org
 http://www.plantoftheweek.org/week415.shtml

However, the pacific bulb society web site contradicts.  Hippeastrum vittatum,
is displayed as a different flower alltogether
 http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/LegacyBulbsFive
(theHippeastrum vittatum, are considered to be large white flowers, striped
with red, native to the Peruvian Andes. )

Hippeastrum puniceum, an orange flower appears to be a close match.

Regards / Thanks again.
Raghu
