Also, as you mentioned, the name mulli is used mainly for thorny plants (Mul = முள் = thorn). For this plant, I suggest either "pulli potta poo chedi" புள்ளி போட்ட பூச்செடி or simply "pulli poo chedi" புள்ளிப்பூ செடி. Both mean the same thing (plant with dotted flowers), but the former name may be a better option.
