Here is a list of M. Benoit Segerer's ferns from India and Nepal. 1. Azolla pinnata subsp. asiatica, not “A. filiculoides”. Oriya, Rajasthan 2. Adiantum capillus-veneris, not “Black”, just Maiden-hair and not A. philippense as I wrote. Try to show lamina-bases, not just apices! Mt. Abu, Rajasthan. 3. Pteris vittata (sensu stricto), young fronds not so good, here the apex of mature fertile fronds is important. Khumbalgarh, C. India. 4. Hypodematium crenatum, sterile frond apex, not determinable to subspecies. Khumbalgarh, C. India 5. Yes, more probably Aleuritopteris bicolor. When like this I soak them out in water first until expanded, but the diagnostic feature is the very narrow scales at the stipe-base only. Khumbalgarh, C. India. 6. Aleuritopteris anceps But you must show the whole frond from underneath so we can see the lamina-base and see if there are scales up the rachis and on the pinna-costae – and again we have to see the stipe-base and its scales. Not A. scioana, confined in India to the Rajasthan desert and only twice collected so far and is very different. Khumbalgarh, C. India. 7. Hymenophyllum tenellum, too immature, small plants and sori not easily visible. Kameng, Sessa (Orchid Sanctuary?), Ar. Pr. 8. Hymenophyllum tenellum, but please try to show a fertile frond. Asplenium lacinioides (probably to be called A, guenzianum, from “Africa” in error), too small and immature plant. S. of Rupa, Kameng, Ar. Pr. 37. Onychium vermae/lucidum aggregate. Sterile fronds in that group are unidentifiable. S. of Rupa, Kameng, Ar. Pr. 38. Diplazium probably maximum, but all Diplazium must show the stipe with its basal scales, to be identifiable, so this can’t be confirmed from these photos. South of Rupa, Kameng, Ar, Pr. D. maximum is edible. 39. Highly immature leaf of Pteris cretica or a Coniogramme such as C. serrulata. Immature specimens are not worth photographing. S. of Rupa, Kameng, Ar. Pr. 40. Polystichum obliquum, but very poor, immature and sterile. Nr. Meghma, Sandakphoo, Ilam Distr, Nepal. 41. Polystichum squarrosum. N.W. of Pashupatinagar, Ilam, Nepal. 42.
