Gymnema sylvestre (Retz.) R.Br. ex Sm. Cycl. (Rees) 17 (1): n. 4. 1811 Syn: Periploca sylvestris Retz. Observ. Bot. (Retzius) ii. 15.
Gymnema: somewhere I found that it means sugar destroyer, but think its wrongly interpreted. Some one who can help here. I would be grateful. sylvestre means, one that grows in forests. This is a very high value medicinal plant. You chew a leaf and then for almost whole day you cant feel the sweet taste of sugar. Thats why this is also called as GURMAAR. One that kills the effects of sugar. Regards Pankaj On Mon, Nov 1, 2010 at 11:24 PM, Smita Raskar <[email protected]> wrote: > Gymnema syvestre R.
