I think we need to investigate it further. To me it looks as if basal leaves
belong to Acomastylis elata (Geum elatum; Sieversia elata). Surely they
don't belong to P. gerardiana., although upper leaves are surely of
Potentilla. I wish you could find lower leaves of the plant to confirm
identification
