Mr Punjani:

Mr RI PATEL in 1971 wrote about Hygrophilia auriculata and I quote
from page 222 of his book on Forest Flora of Gujarat state:
" A large spiny herb or undershrub; flowers vilolet in axillary
clusters. Grows in water logged areas and river beds, Gujarat and
Suarashtra.
Local names Ekharu, Ikariya and ikro" end quote

He does not mention variyali as a local name ...
