Thank you Giby Sir for the suggestive ID. A Bengali book on selected common grass & cyperus species mentions four Cyperus taxon -
1. *C. rotundus* 2. *C. esculentus* 3. *C. iria* 4. *C. malaccensis* Of the above, according to the book, No.3 can be found around marshes and No.4 prefers brackish soil. Nothing much in the book to differentiate the first two, except on tubers, and i don't have any tuber photo.
