The technical reason for dis-unifying Tamil and Grantha alphabet is simple.
Grantha alphabet represents random known sounds.
Tamil alphabet represents scientifically defined (mechanics) places of
articulation/pirappidam.
The two system are fundamentally of different philosophy and need to be
analysed separately. Mixing the Tamil system with random system is a recipe for
destruction of the scientific system.
