about 5 years back i happened to meet a nanogenerian person from our freedom movement and he narrated to me how it actually happened... the finally settling down with current (called indo-arabic) numerals in place of Pure Devanagari... i was amazed to learn of the kind of cajoling and coaxing that happened so that there is piece of work left to be done for future generations and to avoid possible chaos by our ancestors during those times... -- "Mistakes are almost always of a sacred nature.
