JKR memang bilang kalau dia maunya aktor dan aktris Harry Potter dari UK/Inggris Raya, tetapi dia tidak menspesifikasikan bahwa harus benar-benar dari keempat negara Inggris Raya - Inggris, Skotlandia, Wales, dan Irlandia Utara. Aktor/aktris Irlandia juga sering dianggap 'aktor Inggris' (sebagaimana aktor/aktris Kanada sering tetap dianggap aktor/aktris Hollywood) jadi beberapa pemeran film HP ada yang berasal dari Irlandia... contohnya Brendan Gleeson yang jadi Mad Eye Moody, atau Devon Murray yang jadi Seamus Finnigan
