Paraxip Technologies Releases Groundbreaking Media Gateway Software

*New Paraxip Gateway Release Continues to Drive Innovation for IP Telephony
in Speech, IVR and Contact Center Solutions.*

Montral, Canada (PRWEB) May 18, 2005 -- Paraxip Technologies today
announced the availability of release 1.2 of its Paraxip Gateway product
delivering groundbreaking innovations that ease the transition from
traditional computer telephony applications to IP telephony. The Paraxip
Gateway is a unique software solution based on off-the-shelf hardware
components, which yields the flexibility of traditional computer telephony
boards, but through a packaged SIP gateway application. The software product
provides unique benefits such as: the capability to SIP-enable existing
telephony cards reducing the cost and challenges associated with the
transition to VoIP; the most complete and accurate call progress analysis
feature for media gateways yielding the best ROI of outbound voice
applications in the IP Contact Center; the widest coverage of call transfer
scenarios that dramatically reduces operating costs, and more. Paraxip
customers use the gateway product to seamlessly integrate their IP-based IVR
and Call Center solutions with the traditional telephony network.

The release 1.2 of the product introduces multiple enhancements including:

* Voice Resource Pooling This highly innovative feature allows customers
to dynamically manage voice resources in the underlying hardware. The
feature brings unparalleled flexibility and cost effectiveness to the usage
of a wide array of computer telephony boards as VoIP gateways. The feature
allows creating a pool of resources that can be assigned to a call. This
enables the implementation of full-duplex VoIP connections out of underlying
hardware that only supports half-duplex audio streaming. It also allows to
dramatically reduce the cost of gateway solutions for automated IP-IVR
applications.

* Call control enhancements Numerous enhancements continue to be added to
Paraxip's advanced call control feature set, such as: Hardware-optimized
bridged transfers, NFAS support, enhanced support for third party call
control and others.

* Added configurations This release introduces support for the RedHat
Linux operating system in some configurations to complement the existing
Windows-based offering, expanded coverage of computer telephony boards
including legacy hardware with half-duplex only voice resources, and more.

"With the Voice Resource Pooling feature, the added call control
capabilities and the expansion of supported operating systems and computer
telephony boards, the Paraxip Gateway software can now serve even more
applications and more customers at a lower total cost than ever before" said
Serge Forest, President and CEO at Paraxip Technologies. "With this product
release, Paraxip once more demonstrates its dedication at enabling and
lowering the barrier to entry for the IP telephony market through
innovative, standards-based, software solutions".

With the Voice Resource Pooling feature, Paraxip can now transform legacy
Intel(r) NetStructure telephony boards that do not even support full-duplex
audio streaming, such as the wildly popular D/240 board series for example,
into fully functional VoIP gateways. Managed service providers and other
application developers who have deployed millions of ports of these legacy
boards over the last few years can now fully leverage them as they move to
support IP telephony.

"For a major communications managed service provider, one of the key
concerns in managing a transition to IP telephony is to ensure that none of
the applications' capabilities are lost in the transition" said Mike Mateer,
Director of Information Systems at West Corporation. "Cost savings and
efficiency improvements are very important, but they can't be done at the
expense of reduced customer satisfaction. With Paraxip's innovative
solution, one can obtain the same level of sophisticated telephony features
and control in SIP applications as we have in our traditional offering. And
the fact that we can reuse our existing equipment and telephony
configuration dramatically reduces the upfront investment required for that
gateway solution."

The Paraxip Gateway 1.2 product is generally available now. Paraxip
Technologies is a general member of the Intel(r) Communications Alliance.
