Di linux, bagi yang senang dengan visual programming bisa mencoba openoffice
basic, dan untuk reporting dalam bentuk graphicsnya bisa menggunakan gnuplot.
Bahkan jika diprogram dengan script gnuplot bisa menampilkan graphics secara
realtime. Untuk automatic systemnya bisa menggunakan Fvwm, tapi harus
diintegrate dengan kde dahulu
