Setuju banget sama Hawking mengenai evolusi karakter manusia, tapi setelah dipikir-pikir, kenapa kita selalu aja berpikir typical "in fear" kepada alien? War of the Worlds, Independence Day dan lain-lain. Siapa tahu kita yang duluan mencapai tahap spacefaring dan kita yang menjajah dunia alien? It is, after all, in our blood. Menguasai dan mengeksploitasi sumber daya alam sebanyak-banyaknya dan seserakah-serakahnya sampai totally depleted.
Bayangan kita akan masa depan semesta Star Trek belum tentu terwujud, mengingat perkembangan karakter manusia saat ini. Probabilitasnya lebih ke arah kita menemukan planet kelas-M, berpenghuni makhluk cerdas tapi "primitif" lalu kita jajah mereka. Lifeform-nya jadi budak, resource-nya kita kuasai untuk memperkaya diri. Scary or likely?
