Hi all, I am just add another opinion. I will say that the easiest way to travel through in North Sumatra is the one suggested by Yuni if the starting point is Medan. >From Medan you can take the public bus straight to Parapat and then cross the >lake to the island Tuk-Tuk. Here i recomend that you go around the island with >the motorbike and try the off track ride which goes exactly around and you can >see Lake Toba from many different views. and there's a waterfall somewhere >call "Harian Boho" i can say that this is worth to go for, the view along the >journey and the the waterfall itself. Back from Tuk-Tuk to Parapat then take a bus to Siantar from where you can get another bus to Berastagi.But if you want you can visit another spectacular view of the Sipiso-Piso waterfall. If you want to go there, take a stop in Merek Situnggaling. I remember there's a guest house in Sipiso-Piso and if you love natural spectacular view, i think you gonna love this site. Continue then to Berastagi where then you can experience the lifestyle of the Karo people. Try to go visit Kuta Lingga an traditional village. Get a bus in the morning back to Medan and tell them you are going to stop in Pinang Baris where then you can continue straight away to Bukit Lawang. Then back to Medan. I am not sure how many days you have to be in North Sumatra but there are a lot more places to visit. If you wanna know more about them, just email me. We have one more question. What itinerary do you think is better: Bukit Lawang - Brastagi - Lake Toba - Medan or Bukit Lawang - Lake Toba - Brastagi - Medan? We have to get a fly in Medan to go to Jogyakarta. Is a better option going first to Brastagi or perhaps the Lake Toba? How many time we need in public transportion to go to these places?
