IOM Jakarta is looking for a Migration Health Nurse for the IOM Health

Position Title                            : Migration Health Nurse

Type & duration of contract    : SAIC, 3 (three) months with the
possibility of extension.



General Functions:

Under the global guidance of the IOM Chief of Mission (COM) for
administrative matters, and direct supervision of the Migration Health
Physician and technical guidance of the Senior Migration Health Adviser
for IOM Indonesia; the Migration Health Nurse will assist in the
implementation of the immigration health assessments and other migration
health related activities in IOM Indonesia.



The incumbent is expected to carry out his/her duties in accordance with
strictest moral and ethical standards and with due respect for gender
and socio-cultural differences of the migrants. In particular he/she
will responsible for :



1.      Preparing and coordinating the schedule and implementation of
the IOM immigration health assessment activities for immigrants and
refugees.

2.      Conducting proper photo-identification of each migrant in all
stages of the immigration health assessment process ensuring that there
is no substitution in person for the chest x-ray and laboratory test.

3.      Briefing migrants on the process of the health assessments;
providing pre- and posttest counseling to all migrants undergoing HIV
testing and securing informed consent from all migrants undergoing the
immigration health assessment process. For those found positive for HIV,
the Senior Migration Health Nurse is responsible for referring the
migrant to the Migration Health Physician for post-test counseling and
follow-up.

4.      Assisting the migration health physician in conducting all
health assessments of migrants.

5.      Following up required medical data from the specialists and
migrants.

6.      Ensure confidentiality and security of all laboratory specimen
and their results by using coded sera numbers for the specimens
submitted for testing to the IOM2 identified laboratory. Results are
decoded for the Migration Health Physician medical evaluation of the
migrant.

7.      Collecting and arranging medical forms, laboratory reports,
x-ray films and their corresponding reports including specialist's
evaluation reports for the evaluation of the migration health physicians
before and after the migrant's physical examination.

8.      Ensuring the proper production, collection, handling, referral
and follow-up of results of the 3 consecutive days sputum specimen from
migrants to the IOM-affiliated laboratory. The Senior Migration Health
Nurse should also ensure the proper photo-identification of the migrant
before conducting the sputum collection.

9.      Conducting the implementation of effective, verifiable,
documented and safe directly observed therapy (DOT) for those patients
deemed by the IOM migration health physicians in need of tuberculosis
treatment, following national guidelines of respective national TB
treatment guidelines.

10.  Ensuring that all necessary pre-departure treatments are completed
in coordination with the migration health physician.

11.  Arranging medical referrals to the specialists or other services
and update all medical records as appropriate in consultation with the
migration health physicians.

12.  Conducting pre-departure health checks or assessments and inform
the migration health physicians as necessary.

13.  Collating and reviewing all medical documentation for each migrant
undergoing health assessments for completeness of information once these
documents are finalized by the migration health physicians.

14.  Daily recording and monthly reporting of statistical data generated
from the health assessment

15.  Providing medical support and assistance to migrants during
international or local travel when needed.

16.  Providing assistance to the migration health physicians in meetings
with health authorities of host resettlement countries and respective
Embassy staff when needed.

17.  Liaising with the IOM Admin-Finance staff for all collected fees on
a daily basis.

18.  Assisting the Migration Health Physician in the identification,
procurement, storage and maintenance of medical supplies and equipments
needed in the clinic. The Senior Migration Health Nurse should report to
the Senior Migration Health Physician the medicines and supplies 6
months before they are due to expire.

19.  Any other duties as assigned.



Desirable qualifications:

Degree in Nursing, and/or with equivalent education and training
relative to clinical/mental health nursing. At least three years of
clinical practice and experience in nursing or have worked in settings
with conflict-affected communities, family/domestic abuse and
trauma/post trauma care. Experience in general counseling, good
coordination and networking skills will be distinct advantages.



Good communication skills, personal commitment, efficiency and
flexibility. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Good level of
computer literacy. Awareness of gender issues. Ability to work
effectively and harmoniously in a team with colleagues from varied
cultures and professional backgrounds. Willingness to travel and to work
under difficult conditions.



Thorough knowledge of English.
