General Functions:
Under the overall administrative supervision of the Chief of Mission,
direct technical supervision of the Senior Migration Health Physician
for health and psychosocial matters and the National Operations Officer
for Operations matters, the Migration Health Nurse Coordinator is
responsible for overall coordination and support of the field management
and implementation of health and psychosocial services to stranded
irregular migrants under the care of IOM in its sub-offices in
Indonesia.  S/he will be responsible for facilitating the referral and
follow-up of migrants referred to IOM Jakarta for specialized evaluation
and treatment; accountability and maintenance of medical procurements;
and documentation and reporting of health and psychosocial activities in
the field.  In Jakarta, the Migration Health Nurse Coordinator is also
responsible for the health and psychosocial welfare of migrants under
IOM's care in the accommodation and detention facilities. In
particular, he/she will:



1.      Conduct regular visits to the irregular migrant's (IM)
accommodation facilities, i.e., hotel and/or detention centres to assess
and provide for the health needs of IMs including referral and
coordination when needed.  In the absence of the Migration Health
Physician, the Migration Health Nurse Coordinator is responsible for
evaluating the health conditions of IMs, provide emergency care if
needed, and within his or her capacity provide appropriate medical
action in consultation with the Migration Health Physician.

2.      Assist the Migration Health Physician during health assessment,
medical consultation, physical examination, diagnosis, treatment and
follow-up of the medical/health conditions of irregular migrants.

3.      Facilitate medical referrals and follow-up of IMs to specialists
or other services in Jakarta in accordance with the recommendations of
the attending Migration Health Physician or Senior Migration Health
Physician.  Follow-up medical cases in hospitals/shelters as required.

4.      Arrange and administer immunization to IMs as instructed by the
Migration Health Physician.

5.      Collate, review for completeness of information and maintain a
filing, retrieval and forwarding system of medical documents/records for
each migrant undergoing health assessments, medical consultation,
treatment, referral and follow-up under the programme.

6.      Maintain daily recording and prepare monthly reporting of
activities, events and statistical data generated from the management
and care of IMs in Jakarta and collate the result with the reports from
IOM sub offices.  Monthly statistical data should be incorporated in the
narrative monthly progress report submitted for review by the Senior
Migration Health Physician every first Friday of the month.

7.      Conduct pre-departure health checks or assessments to IMs
travelling under the auspices of IOM and immediately report findings to
the Migration Health Physician.

8.      Provide medical support and assistance to migrants during
international or domestic travel when needed.

9.      Assist the Migration Health Physician in maintaining regular
progress notes and an efficient medical referral system for medical
cases that require specialized medical attention or for emergency cases.

10.  Assist Senior Migration Health Physician in coordinating with local
health authorities concerning the health of IMs.

11.  Oversee the identification, procurement, storage and maintenance of
medical supplies and equipments for the clinic in Jakarta and the IOM
sub-offices in consultation with the Senior Migration Health Physician. 
Medicines due to expire in 6 months should be reported to the Senior
Migration Health Nurse in Jakarta.

12.  Work in close coordination with the Psychosocial Health and
Operations Teams in Jakarta and the IOM sub-offices to ensure that IMs
basic needs are met.

13.  Technically supervise, support, coordinate and monitor the health
and psychosocial activities of nurses in the field

14.  Undertake other duties that may be assigned from time to time which
are commensurate to the position.



Desirable qualifications:

Degree in Nursing, and/or with equivalent education and training
relative to clinical nursing.  At least three to five years of clinical
nursing practice; experience in public health and/or community health
and health promotion an advantage.



Experience in general counselling, good coordination and networking
skills will be distinct advantages. Good reporting skills, personal
commitment, efficiency and flexibility. Ability to work with minimal
supervision. Good level of computer literacy. Awareness of gender
issues. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team with
colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
Willingness to travel and to work under difficult conditions.



Good verbal and written communication skills in English
