Last week, the EMS Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) announced the winners of the 2005 Heartsafe Community Awards: Putnam County EMS/Cookeville Fire Department (Tenn.) and the City of Windsor (Ontario) Fire & Rescue Department. We congratulate the winners and salute the paramedics and firefighters who spend countless hours providing CPR/AED training in the community and work to make public access defibrillation a reality. The JEMS EMS Research Grant
awards $1500 to an individual or agency for the completion of a research project that studies the impact on care that results from having two paramedics on each ALS call vs. the use of only one paramedic. For more project specifications, please click here.
The JEMS/Elsevier Nursing Scholarship provides one scholarship to prehospital personnel (EMT or EMT-Paramedic) who want to pursue a nursing degree. The winner will receive $5,000 to pursue a nursing degree, as well as a one year ENA membership.
