IAFC Resources on Avian Flu
For several months, the EMS Section of the IAFC has been gathering information on the potential pandemic issues surrounding the avian (bird) flu. A special task force has now released a brochure for agencies and providers that focuses on planning, infection control, signs and symptoms, and other related information. The brochure will be mailed to all fire stations and IAFC members this week. To read articles published by the task force and to download the brochure, visit the IAFC Web page, under "What's Hot" on the right, and then click on "Avian (bird) flu". Additionally, on Nov. 1, President Bush released the national readiness plan on pandemic influenza, which can be viewed and downloaded at www.pandemicflu.gov/ or www.whitehouse.gov/homeland/pandemic-influenza.html.
