Long waits for ambulances in Philadelphia scrutinized Colorado ambulance safety thrust in spotlight

Struggling to keep up with an increasing volume of 9-1-1 calls, the Philadelphia Fire Department is under heavy scrutiny this week as the number of 20-minute-plus waits for an ambulance to arrive on scene continues to rise.

Dave Kearney, a 14-year paramedic, is facing disciplinary charges for telling the media that things in the EMS system are worse than they've been in years. "People are dying waiting for ambulances," Kearney said ... Full Story
