UPDATED INFORMATION ON MERAPI& POST EARTHQUAKE
JOGJAKARTA AND CENTRAL JAVA

A.  Latest Information on Merapi
1.   BPPTK Report, June 18th 2006, 12.44 PM
1.      Merapi status is still in the highest level, it shown by the heat cloud slide which occurred since 05.30 AM continously for over 10 minutes. The slide distace approximately reached 5 km downward to south east of Kali Gendol upperstream. The point of heat cloud was turn to the south after hit Mount Kendil in the top of Kaliadem. At 08.30 AM, another heat cloud was come from the same direction.
 
2.      From 00.00- 06.00 AM, there was a heat cloud occurred downward to Kali Gendol upperstream which was happen 4 times, 58 times of pyroclastic downward to Kali Gendol and Krasak, multiphase earthquake was also happen for 9 times. Based on this activity, the Merapi status then is still in the stage of alert level 4/awas. 
 
3.      Merapi alert areas is extended to 8 km, which is added 2 km from the previous one. This status is valid to the areas along Kali Gendol, which need to be isolated.
 
4.      Last Wednesday, predicted that on the amount of 4,3 million qubics of pyroclastic were ejected and it leaves up to 30% of volcanic material which is potential to errupt.
 
2.   Post Report
      Deles, Klaten District :
This morning, the lava and heat cloud within mid scale was occured 3 times and this afternoon, the Merapi activity can not be seen because it covered by heat cloud. The community’s activity around Mount Merapi areas is still the same as the days before. They come and go to the evacuation sites. Until now, some of the tourists are still insist to go on hike to the Mount Merapi, but the SAR team of Klaten forbidden them by security reason. Further information, contact :

B. Latest Sitaution Post Earthquake
     Yogyakarta : Generally, based on the information from Mia/Yakkum, the IDPs still live in the tents in front of their collapsed houses. The reconstruction planning has not yet conducted, because of the budget reason. But, the citizens are inisiative to clean the ruins and wreched by their own resources. The condition of most IDPs are starting to weak because of the lung infection which affected them most. There is also a possibility of disease threat, which is tetanus.
     Sidorejo : In Sodorejo Village, Kemalang Sub-District, Klaten District. The citizens are having a water crisis, because of the water company that was shut down. In 3 days ahead, they will have a difficulty to find water.
     Klaten : In Tanjungan Village, Wedi, Klaten District. The women labour who used to work in the garment confection took some of the fabrique which will they use to produce clothes. The amount of the labours are 29 women and they need the machine sewing to keep producing the garments.

A.  Informasi Kondisi Merapi
1.   Laporan dari BPPTK, 18 Juni 2006, 12.44 WIB
1.      Hingga saat ini aktifitas Merapi masih tinggi, ditandai dengan luncuran awan panas besar sejak pukul 05.30 WIB secara terus menerus selama 10 menit. Jarak luncur maksimal mencapai 5 kilometer mengarah ke tenggara masuk ke hulu Kali Gendol. Ujung awan panas membelok ke selatan setelah menabrak Gunung Kendil di atas Kaliadem. Pada pukul  08.30 WIB muncul lagi awan panas besar dengan arah yang sama.
 
2.      Sejak pukul 00.00 WIB hingga 06.00 WIB terjadi 4 kali luncuran awan panas yang mengarah ke hulu Kali Gendol, 58 lava pijar ke Kali Gendol dan Krasak, 9 kali gempa multifase. Dengan aktifitas ini status Merapi masih dipertahankan "Awas". 
 
3.      Wilayah Awas Bencana diperluas menjadi 8 kilometer, bertambah 2 kilometer dari sebelumnya. Status ini khusus dikenakan 8 kilometer di sepanjang alur Kali Gendol, karena itu pemukiman dalam wilayah ini harus dikosongkan dari penduduk.
 
4.      Diperkirakan sejumlah 4,3 juta meter kubik lahar runtuh hari Rabu kemarin, 300 ribu kubik diantaranya menjadi abu awan panas dan sisa material Merapi yang masih potensila menjadi awan panas tinggal 30 %.

2.   Laporan dari Posko
      Deles, Kab Klaten :
Pagi ini lava pijar dan awan panas dengan skala sedang tterjadi 3 kali dan siang ini aktivitas merapi tidak dapat terlihat dikarenakan tertutup awan panas. Aktivitas Merapi untuk siang ini tidak dapat dipantau, dikarenakan tertutup awan panas. Aktivitas warga disekitar Merapi berjalan sebagaimana biasanya, di malam hari mereka datang ke Pos-Pos Pengungsian dan kembali ke rumahnya masing-masing di pagi hari. Sampai saat ini, masih ada wisatawan yang mencoba mendaki Gunungapi Merapi, namun dilarang oleh SAR Klaten atas dasar faktor keamanan.Untuk informasi lebih lanjut, hubungi : Naibul Umam/Pramuka Peduli, Hp : 08156553864

B. Perkembangan Situasi Paska Gempa
     Yogyakarta : Secara umum, berdasarkan informasi dari Mia/LSM Yakkum, para pengungsi gempa di Yogyakarta masih bertahan di tenda-tenda pengungsian depan rumah mereka. Proses rekonstruksi belum berjalan, dikarenakan masih menunggu dana dari pemerintah, namun masyarakat secara mandiri mulai membersihkan puing-puing rumah mereka. Kondisi pengungsi ini mulai lemah, dikarenakan sebagian besar dari mereka terserang ISPA (Infeksi Saluran Pernapasan), dan ditakutkan akan adanya kemungkinan menyebarnya penyakit tetanus.
     Sidorejo : Di sekitar wilayah Sidorejo, Kec. Kemalang, Kab. Klaten. Masyarakat mulai kekurangan air, dikarenakan air PDAM yang mati total. Selama 3 hari kedepan, warga di Desa ini akan mengalami rawan atau krisis air.
     Klaten : Di Desa Tanjungan, Wedi, Kab. Klaten. Para pekerja wanita yang dahulu bekerja di konveksi, yang sekarang mengalami kerusakan akibat gempa, mengambil bahan-bahan kain untuk dijahit dirumah mereka masing-masing. Mereka ingin bekerja lagi, namun sebagian besar alat produksi mereka, berupa mesin jahit mengalami kerusakan. Berdasarkan data dari pemerintah setempat, diketahui jumlah pekerja wanita ini adalah sebanyak 29 orang dan mereka membutuhkan mesin jahit untuk dapat terus bekerja.
