Hi Matthew, My suggestion is for indologists (or any Asian studies scholars) talk to their librarian or library director. BAS is subscribed by 300+ research libraries across Europe, Asia and the rest of the world. Published by a scholarly association (AAS) and one of the least expensive databases out there, it’s considered an indispensable multidisciplinary research resource for any institution with credible focus on Asia. All the librarians I know direct their Asian studies scholars and students to it as the best starting point for their research.
I believe any institution can subscribe to the BAS itself (via EBSCO) even if not going for the entire EBSCO package. There are also inexpensive individual subscriptions available. I suspect that many others on this list will also find that they do not have access. Any suggestions? all best, Matthew Matthew T.
