Dear Colleagues,

I am forwarding this note from our good colleague Roberto Morales in Costa Rica.

Yours,

McComas

Since 1968, the University of Costa Rica has offered Sanskrit courses
uninterruptedly. The program is three years long: two mandatory basic levels
for Classical Philology, plus two elective intermediate levels and two elective
advanced levels. A course on Sanskrit literature has also been required as
mandatory for Classical Philology. A curricular reform is currently underway
and it aims to eliminate all of these mandatory courses. Budgetary constraints
make it infeasible to offer these courses regularly if they become elective,
thus breaking with this significant academic tradition.

Therefore, I kindly ask you to sign the attached petition. To sign, please
complete the information in yellow and send the signed letter to the following

Best,
Roberto
