Dear everyone, I'm delighted to announce that our performance of the Mṛcchakaṭika or The Little Clay Cart is now available on YouTube. This production involved around thirty people, who got together to act in Sanskrit and Prakrit, adapt the original script, sew costumes from scratch, build props, compose music, sync the subtitles and so much more, in order to breathe new life into this piece of the past.
I will let the performance speak for itself and just announce that, thanks to a generous grant from the University of Oxford, the newly founded Oxford Sanskrit Society will be able to produce Sanskrit plays yearly for the foreseeable future (5–10 years), to offer live performances free of cost and upload the recordings on YouTube in order to provide material for the popularisation and teaching of Sanskrit and Middle Indic languages.
