"No, he could move both his arms very well," Mahar Mardjono, a former rector of the University of Indonesia, replied when asked if the 78-year-old former head of state was partially paralyzed as a result of the stroke he suffered Tuesday. "He could shake my hand and said hi to me," Mardjono told AFP at Jakarta's Pertamina hospital, where Suharto is being treated by a team of doctors. But Mardjono, who graduated as a neurologist from the University of California, declined to say whether his visit was a professional one or not. Suharto's doctors have said they detected a blood clot in Suharto's brain, but that he would not require surgery. They have also said his speech is slightly slurred since the stroke Tuesday.
