"The government must lodge a strong protest, cannot remain silent. We will possibly discuss it tomorrow (at a cabinet meeting)," the minister told reporters at the Merdeka Palace. A Black Hawk helicopter of the Interfet was reported to have entered Indonesian air space over Kisar Island in Southeast maluku last week. But the Kisar islanders in Wonreli subdistrict successfully chased the helicopter away when it was trying to land on JJ Baker airfield near Pura-Pura village. Previously, in Irian Jaya, the most eastern province of Indonesia, an Australian officer of the UN Mission in East Timor (UNAMET) which organized the August 30 direct ballot, was caught red-handed entering the province for unclear purposes. Australia recently stated its intention to enter Indonesian territory to pursue pro-integration militia from East Timor. Muladi said Australia cannot carry out its "hot pursuit" argument "just like that." "There must be rules and norms. There is an international law," he added. So far, the Australia government has neither confirmed nor denied the report on the Australian military chopper entering Indonesia's air space over Kisar island. Australian Defence Minister John Moore told Australian television on Sunday (Oct 3) that he had read the report but could as yet not comment on it.
