"Several hundred people have been dispatched from Jakarta. I have already ordered the police chief to search them as soon as they arrive at one of the islands in the Maluku province," he said. "If they are found to bring weapons, confiscate them and arrest the persons. This is what has caused the troubles. They have no business in Ambon but bring in weapons. Therefore the Ambon case is never settled," he said. Wahid, better known as Gus Dur, said Maluku had already been put under a special control command headed by the regional military commander.
