The cache corruption problems were related to *any* process that writes
to disk, database server, AFS cache manager, editor, mailer, whatever. It
just happens that a significant portion of the disk I/O on a Solaris AFS
client happens in the AFS cache. So problems with disk corruption are more
likely to be felt in AFS cache than in other places.
We've seen all kinds of problems with Solaris 2.5. The latest kernel jumbo
patches seem to have fixed the problems though. Go get the latest patches
from Sun, and you should be fine running 2.5.
Don't do *anything* on an unpatched Solaris 2.5 box. You live dangerously
if you do.
