I'm surprised no one has mentioned the positive effect of having a
"journaled" filesystem (as in AIX) on fsck time (as in reducing it to
zero). Since this is becoming an ever-larger problem as disk size
increases and disk cost decreases, I would think that journaled
filesystems would be becoming non-optional.
